Not yet

I know that it is January and the start of a New Year and mild; however,be warned:

Do not rush out and sow yet for it is not yet Spring.

One of the main problems that people have is that they do not think like a plant!

We grow them indoors and in the glasshouse where the plants are kept nice and warm and then they get thrown out into the cold soil.

All your vegetable plants will react to this kind of shock by growing a few wood cells for protection, and the result of that is that the crop is tougher than it should be and will not crop so well.

Warm your soil up by spreading black plastic on the ground for a couple of weeks.

Another tip is to keep a can of water in your glasshouse to water your crop with.
even plants do not like a cold shower.

I do not know if you are aware:if you go to Amazon to buy a gardening book you will find many there for sale at a penny plus postage. Go take a look.

Glasshouse Work

Make sure that you are taking care of your glasshouse crops. I know that the sun does not shine much this time of the year, if at all.

However, you must protect your crops from draughts, which could kill off anything that you have growing there.

Check.
  • the windows are locked
  • seals are secure
  • block off all draughts.

I have been going through my many books and one that I would not be without is

Royal Horticultural Society Gardeners' Encyclopedia of Plants and Flowers.

A treasury chest of knowledge.

There is one of sale on ebay right now for 0.99 pence = postage
